The five-star Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is situated, as its name suggests, in the world’s largest shopping mall outside of North America. Visitors do not, however, only come here for the shopping. In Dubai, the city of superlatives, nothing appears impossible – not even skiing in temperatures of forty degrees centigrade. You don’t of course go to the desert to ski, but to a purpose-built ski dome. At more than 22.500 square metres, Ski Dubai is the third largest indoor ski resort in the world. The hotel itself has more than 395 deluxe rooms and suites, all of them with a view over the ski slopes or of the Dubai skyline and the Persian Gulf. Discreet reading lights make reading in bed pleasant and comfortable. Additional lighting is provided by elegant table lamps from Baulmann, the lighting specialists.
